Seven Deadly Sins Season 2 – Imashime no Fukkatsu
Nantsu no Taizai Season 2 七つの大罪 戒めの復活
Genre: Shounen, Action, Fantasy, Supernatural
Studio: A-1 Pictures
Producers: Dentsu, Sammy, Kodansha, Aniplex, Movic
Seriously, what is wrong with these producers, it’s like they intentionally trying to F up sequels for epic series: Trying to come up with something original and different is almost never a good idea… How about you just pick up where you left off in the previous season, which is what all the viewers wanted in the first place. Not to worry, This does not necessarily reflect on Seven Deadly Sins Season 2, – Nanatsu no Taizai Season 2 – Imashime no Fukkatsu is on, 3 episodes aired and yet, and… relax, the series are absolutely phenomenal!
The truth is, this time, producers got everything right! Not sure how many of you watching this without first reading the manga, but even if you know the story, you are still going to enjoy the series just as much.
It took some time to realize what was the main appeal of Nanatsu no Taizai for me specifically; it wasn’t fighting scenes for sure (seen it all before), definitely wasn’t the Ecchi part (in fact, I thought it was absolutely detached from the series), I suppose it’s the story and characters. The story, despite the primitive nature is still awesome. As for characters… all the characters in Nanatsu no Taizai are epic, Seven Deadly Sins, the Demons, elves, giants, and the Ban of course.
Speaking of Ban
Speaking of Ban… Spoiler Alert! Ban leaving 7 deadly sins was a good story progression. I bet most of you hated this and got really mad, which is exactly why! because you see, Ban “coming back” is going to be even more epic. Like I said, the story, characters and character development are something else… Speaking of character development, even when it comes to silly things like Hawk, even the piglet gets “upgrades”; referring to Balor’s Magical Eye trinket (with ability to see stats HP/Mana through enemies), which Merlin created and gave it to Hawk.
Nanatsu No Taizai Demons
Spoiler Free – Spoiler or not, I think it’s best if we leave demon army characters alone for now, this stuff is too epic to read about it in brief reviews like this. You are going to enjoy uncovering personalities as you watch the series. It’s been ages since I last enjoyed “bad guy army” in anime series this much, it was many years ago, when “Espada” was first introduced in Bleach, the magnitude was much bigger obviously, but I still find resemblance. If I were you, I’d skip the openings and endings as well, they leak the personalities of key characters just a bit too much.
Speaking of resemblances don’t tell me you don’t find one in the image below…
And finally, regardless of minor issues, which I’d rather not talk about right now, Nanatsu No Taizai Season 2 – Imashime no Fukkatsu looks phenomenal and promises to get even better with each episode. Can’t wait for next episode. The only thing I did not like about season 2 is the increased dose of “drama”. Too much “Love” involved in what supposed to be a Shounen anime. Let’s hope it was only episode two and we won’t be seeing too much of this kind of touchy-feely stuff anytime soon.
